With numerous research projects underway, the College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE) welcomes the opportunity to share experiential learning with Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) students.
The SURE program provides opportunities for Kent State University student researchers to work directly with a faculty mentor, gain valuable experience to clarify career and educational goals, enhance research skills and gain academic insight.
“The college is very supportive of undergraduate research experiences for our students, says Joycelyn Harrison, Ph.D., associate dean of research, CAE. “It was my experience doing research as an undergraduate, chemical engineering student at Georgia Tech that motivated me to attend graduate school. Research broadens one’s perspective and allows students to see engineering principles applied to solve real world challenges.”
Students selected are in good academic standing and have an identified faculty mentor who will provide full-time engagement throughout the eight-week program. Students must be enrolled in a KSU campus for fall 2020.
“We are grateful that the 2020 SURE Program is still available to our students, in spite of the COVID-19 crises,” Harrison says. “The SURE program operates June 8 – July 31 and provides students with a $2,800 stipend.”
