For Wyatt Burke, a student in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE), the summer of 2024 was more than just a typical internship. At Cleveland Electric Laboratories, he dove deep into the world of industrial temperature sensor manufacturing, transforming dated design concepts into cutting-edge 3D models that showcase the power of engineering creativity.

Working alongside experienced professionals, Wyatt quickly adapted to industry-standard software like SolidWorks, using its comprehensive help features to navigate complex design challenges. His most significant achievement came after a month of dedicated work: a meticulously crafted 3D model of an Oven Bake Model that revolutionized existing design documentation.

"Being able to work with multiple vendors and professionals has helped me gain the soft skills and communication skills I will need for working in this industry," Wyatt reflects.

Motivated by aspirations of pursuing a master's degree, Wyatt strategically sought this internship through personal connections. His advice to fellow students is straightforward: "Ask everyone for an opportunity— friends, family, and the standard search process because you never know where an opportunity will come from."

As Wyatt prepares to leverage this experience in his future job search, his portfolio now includes impressive projects that demonstrate his technical prowess and innovative thinking. His journey exemplifies the CAE spirit of continuous learning and professional growth.

In the words of our motto, Wyatt didn't just complete an internship—he chose to Dare Mighty Things, transforming challenges into opportunities and designs into reality.
