SLP Specialty Clinics
The ELPC is a specialized speech and language clinic associated with the main Kent State University Speech and Hearing Clinic. Clients are seen individually by M.A. level students from our graduate program in Speech Pathology
The Speech Pathology and Audiology Department hosts a research project studying the efficacy of using a "telepractice" or telehealth service delivery model to provide speech and language therapy services to students in rural Ohio school districts.
Kent State University’s Speech and Hearing Clinic launches a new group therapy and now offers 3 different Social Skills groups during the Summer 2019 semester.
Kent State University’s Speech Pathology and Audiology Department also hosts a number of group therapy sessions. These sessions include school-age social skills groups, early intervention groups for children (birth - 3 years), and adult cognitive-communication groups.
SPEAK OUT! and LOUD CROWD
The Kent State University Speech and Hearing Center offers individual SPEAK OUT! treatment as well as LOUD CROWD groups to address voice and communication difficulties for people with any stage of Parkinson’s. This research-based method will teach our clients to “speak with intent” using the pyramidal system in the brain less reliant on dopamine, a neurotransmitter known to be decreased with Parkinson’s.
These services are supported by a grant through the Parkinson’s Voice Project.
