Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a global design epicenter with an exciting fashion industry. This Study Tour program gives you a valuable opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of the West Coast fashion world.

During your time here, you’ll learn more about the fashion design and production process from initial concept to final product. You’ll tour fashion design studios, visit fashion production facilities and sustainable fashion companies, and get to explore museums, galleries and cutting-edge architectural projects.

What’s more, you’ll meet with leading fashion designers, principles of creative agencies, internship coordinators and studio owners. The Los Angeles Study Tour program will let you find out more about contemporary design practice and show you how design innovation can be a creative, cultural force.

Summer

May 18, 2026 – June 7, 2026

*Entire class meets remotely for the first week; May 18 – May 22 from 9:00am-11:00am.

The Study away application will be open from December 1, 2025- December 15, 2025. The application is first-come, first-served. The application link will be delivered via email in mid-November.

Please be aware that your full cost of attendance consists of tuition and fees, as well as food and housing, books, course materials, supplies and equipment, transportation and personal expenses for the terms in which you plan to be enrolled. Of these components, the expenses directly owed to Kent State University include tuition and fees and, for students who live on-campus, food and housing and for commuter students who purchase a meal plan, the cost of the food plan. Housing

Hotel in Los Angeles (Santa Monica) and shuttle/professional driver to visit locations in Los Angeles are organized by the School of Fashion.

Travel

Group travel not available. Students fly independently to LA, but can organize with other students to coordinate flights or arrival times. This allows for flexibility for students who are remaining in LA after the study tour to complete internships or travel.
