The National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) has named Dorvan Byler, a 2015 graduate of the Honors College and the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State University at Stark, as a Portz Scholar for 2015. Yvette Mendoza and David Pittman are a match made at Kent State University. Mendoza is the administrative assistant in the Kent Student Center. Salem – Kent State University’s Columbiana County Campuses recently received an $85,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education’s Community Connectors program. Of the 118 grants awarded statewide, this was one of two awarded in Columbiana County. The Rural Scholars Program is designed to offer local first-generation college-bound students and their families the knowledge and social support needed to succeed at a university. On Oct. 20, 2015, The School of Communication Studies welcomed nearly 300 students, faculty, staff and community members to the Kent Student Center Ballroom to the third annual Global Issues Forum.
