The Beta Nu Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma at Kent State University at Salem received three awards during the recent GIS International Conference in Chicago. GIS is the international risk management, insurance and actuarial science collegiate fraternity. The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Finals are Friday, Oct. 30, from noon-2 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva. The 3MT is a research competition that is coming to Kent State University for the first time and is offered at more than 170 universities. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Kent State University is looking for volunteers and interns to provide free income tax assistance to qualifying individuals during the upcoming tax season. VITA offers tax preparation assistance to low-to-moderate income taxpayers.  The service is free to students, employees and community members who meet the eligibility requirements.
