Out team is accepting appointments for phone, web-based meetings, and high school visits so that you can receive information on the majors and our academic programs. Our Schools will be hosting information sessions remotely and face to face throughout the academic year. All academic information sessions will be listed here first.

School of Art
Kent State University’s School of Art is one of Ohio’s top schools in the visual arts, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in Art Education, Art History, and Studio Art. Our program offers a wide array of studio disciplines, expert faculty, and a place for fine arts and liberal arts to come together in creative and inspiring ways.
School of Art Visit Day
School of Art Tour Days are free and open to all current high school and transfer students.
The guided walking tour of the Center for the Visual Arts is about 45 minutes and will offer prospective students and their families an opportunity to see the studio facilities, classroom spaces and other student meeting and work areas. Students that have registered should meet in the designated room at the Center for the Visual Arts (325 Terrace Drive) a few minutes early. Tours take place from 4 - 5 p.m.

School of Fashion Prospective Days
Hosted by the School of Fashion, join us for Fashion Prospective Day to discover the prestige of our world-class programs. You will attend a group informational session to learn more about program curriculum and requirements. You will also engage in a Q&A with academic advisors and a student panel. The visit includes a tour of the building and facilities!

Music Sample Lesson Day is a comprehensive program for prospective high school junior, senior and college transfer students interested in being music majors or minors. This program offers attendees the opportunity to take a sample lesson on your main instrument and connect with School of Music faculty in your area of interest. Join the School of Theatre and Dance for an afternoon to learn about majors in Musical Theatre, Design Technology, Theatre Studies, Dance and Dance Studies. This event will feature a campus tour, information on listed majors, and a tour of the Center for the Performing Arts.
Free High School Master Class Day
JANUARY 28, 2024 | 12 - 5 P.M.
Calling all high school dancers at the intermediate/advanced level! Spend the day taking two master classes led by KSU faculty.
Your day will include:
- Exploring multiple styles of dance in classes
- Attending a Q&A with KSU dance faculty and students
- Visiting our studios and touring our facilities
- Discovering degree options of KSU’s dance program
Join our dance faculty and learn about opportunities that await you at Kent State! Bring appropriate dance clothes and shoes, footless tights/leggings, socks, water and snacks. - Plan to arrive on time to allow time for obtaining a parking pass and check in with Student Ambassadors and Faculty in the Roe Green Lobby.
- Parking instructions: Park in the C [commuter] Lot on the south side of the Center for Performing Arts, then obtain a parking pass being held for you in the lobby.
- This program is designed for high school juniors, seniors, and transfer students. Attendees will observe selected classes. Parents are also welcomed to observe however, space is limited.
- Students may attend a 1:00 pm class or take additional time for lunch. Bring a bag lunch or money for lunch. Eastway Cafeteria is near the building.
- The program ends at 2:30 p.m.; however, students may leave the program earlier. Kent State offers a 90-minute campus tour at 2:00 p.m. This needs to be scheduled in advance and separately here: https://www.kent.edu/admissions/tours-events

Summer Study Opportunities
The halls of Kent State's School of Theatre and Dance are never quiet, even during the summer months, when multiple summer study opportunities are available for college and high school students.
Dance
SUMMER INTENSIVE DANCE @KENT STATE 2024
June 24-29, 2024
Experience the intensity and welcoming space of Kent State University's Dance Division program during a one-week summer dance program! Participate in dance classes such as modern, contemporary and classical ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, yoga and tap. Attend a Porthouse Theatre performance and learn about injury and eating disorder prevention. Juniors and seniors can audition for the B.F.A./B.A. in Dance degree program during the summer program for early acceptance.

PORTHOUSE THEATRE ACADEMIES
Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University's summer professional theatre, holds three academies during the summer for high school, college and international students interested in the study of the theatre arts.
Porthouse College Academy
The Porthouse College Academy is designed for students who have been accepted or wish to be accepted into Kent State's B.F.A. Musical Theatre program. Participants can earn up to 6 credit hours towards their degree and get a jump start on their musical theatre experience at Kent State.

Porthouse International Academy
Founded in 2015, the Porthouse International Academy is an opportunity for international students to experience the workings of a professional American theatre and take theatre classes for college credit. The International Academy runs concurrently with the Porthouse College Academy.

Special Group Visits
Special Group Visits
Schools or community groups with prospective college students may request a visit in the School of Art, School of Fashion, School of Music, or School of Theatre and Dance or the Kent State University Museum. Our visits are designed specifically for students interested in the College of the Arts majors.
