The College of Aeronautics and Engineering is producing agents of change to address some of the most challenging issues faced by society. Passionate students experience immersive instruction that will prepare them to compete in a rapidly changing global economy. Our academic program is supported by cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art facilities designed to prepare students in the fields of aeronautical engineering, mechatronics and cyber security which are requirements for business, manufacturers and aviation.

The workforce is in great need of highly skilled engineering professionals and the College of Aeronautics and Engineering is in a unique position to deliver on that void. In order to meet the demand, the college is in dire need of additional lab, office and classroom space in the Aeronautics and Engineering Building on the Kent Campus.

The purpose of this project is to expand the present Aeronautics and Engineering Building’s capacity by approximately 44,000 square feet on the Kent State University campus, to accommodate significant current and future enrollment growth. This expansion project is critical, given the need identified through enrollment demand, as well as the needs of industry in Northeast Ohio, the state of Ohio and beyond. The College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE) is unique in the country, in that it is the only college that combines the disciplines of aeronautics, engineering and engineering technology in one cohesive college, thereby enabling cross-disciplinary synergy in academic programs and research. Programs such as Mechatronics Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, and Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) Operations are unique in Ohio, providing much-needed expertise in these emerging technical disciplines. Due to the inherent value proposition associated with a degree from the College of Aeronautics and Engineering, enrollment growth has exploded, with a 53.6 percent increase in enrolling freshmen since 2018 and an almost seven percent enrollment growth college-wide in 2020 - remarkable in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
