How is my GPA calculated?

AACPMAS takes all your earned grades from any US college or university, and calculates one GPA from all courses taken. Courses repeated are also included in the GPA. There is a separate calculation for all biology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and math courses taken to compile your science GPA.

Students entering in August 2019 as part of the Class of 2023 had an average overall GPA of 3.36, an average science GPA of 3.20, an average organic chemistry GPA of 2.90, and an average biology GPA of 3.23. The average MCAT score was a 494.

When is KSUCPM’s application deadline?

KSUCPM participates in AACMPAS. The application service accepts applications beginning August through June 30. KSUCPM operates on a rolling admissions basis. Priority consideration will be given to applicants who submit their admission materials by March 1st of each year for the academic year to begin that same fall. Students may submit an application with pre-requisites in progress or planned. In addition, students may submit an application with a planned MCAT date.

How many students will KSUCPM accept?

KSUCPM will traditionally have an incoming class of between 110 - 125 students. We will interview approximately 250 candidates for those seats.

How does KSUCPM award scholarships?

Each year KSUCPM awards approximately $950,000 to incoming and current students. Scholarships are awarded to incoming students based upon GPA, MCAT score, Interview, and recommendations from the Admissions Committee and/or faculty members. Scholarships for incoming students traditionally range from $2,500-$10,000. Continuing scholarships for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students are awarded based upon performance while enrolled in the program. Please visit the Financial Aid site for more information.

KSUCPM cooperates in articulation agreements with several national institutions.

This program permits qualified undergraduate students at participating institutions to enter KSUCPM after the completion of three years of college study. Entrance into the program is predicated on proven academic abilities including the completion of courses normally associated with a general pre-med curriculum, commitment to the profession and its advancement, and demonstrated moral and professional character.

In addition to the intellectual standards which have been established for admission, students are expected to possess superior personal qualifications.

Depending on undergraduate contractual requirements, students in the binary program will receive the B.S. or B.A. degree from their cooperating undergraduate institution upon successful completion of the first and/or second year of study at KSUCPM.

The DPM degree will be awarded following the successful completion of the remaining years of the required medical curriculum at KSUCPM.

Does KSUCPM Accept International Students?

International students attending an institution outside the Continental US are required to have their academic transcripts submitted and evaluated through World Education Services to meet base requirements. KSUCPM also requires International applicants to show proficiency in the English language. If English is not the applicant's primary language, and they have not attended an accredited US undergraduate institution, they are required to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with acceptable scores.

International students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree program in an accredited US college or university may have the fore-mentioned requirements waived upon individual review by the Dean of Student Affairs. A limited number of loans and scholarship resources for international students are available. Most lenders or guarantors will require the signature of an eligible US citizen as co-borrower. International students are required to provide proof of economic stability throughout their student tenure at KSUCPM. Upon satisfactorily meeting all admissions criteria, data will be electronically submitted for review to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for F-1 travel clearances and relevant SEVIS authorizations.

Does KSUCPM Accept Transfer Students?

Students who have had successful attendance at another college of podiatric medicine and are in good academic and personal standing may apply to KSUCPM for transfer. Decisions regarding transfer admission status are at the discretion of the Dean and Enrollment Management Committee members.

Applicants for transfer admission must meet the criteria for initial application as outlined in the requirements section and follow the procedures outlined below. Submit a letter to the Office of Enrollment Management requesting transfer consideration.

  • Submit a statement outlining the reasons for requesting transfer.
  • Provide an official transcript of academic performance in all undergraduate, graduate and professional programs of study, domestic and international. If there was international institutional enrollment, reports from a recognized foreign credentialing agency must be jointly submitted for full consideration.
  • Provide a letter of status from the Academic Dean or Dean of Student Affairs at the College currently being attended. Official transcripts must indicate GPA of 3.5 or higher from previous podiatric/osteopathic/allopathic program for transfer consideration.
  • Upon notification of eligibility, the applicant must schedule and complete an official campus visit at KSUCPM for final determination.

We cannot wait to meet you! Schedule an individual visit by filling out the online form or by calling our office at 216-916-7485. You can also e-mail us at podiatry@kent.edu. Your visit will include a tour of the campus with a current student and a one-on-one meeting with a representative from the Office of Enrollment Management.

I have been asked to schedule my Class of 2028 interview, how do I do that?

Interviews will be conducted in person and virtually. Each candidate will only participate in one interview (either in person or virtually).  Interviews take place from mid-August to mid-July and are scheduled in the Eastern Time Zone.

Please do not schedule your interview until you have been invited to do so.
