A Message from the Interim Dean of KSUCPM: Dr. Mark Hardy

Hardy 2026

Aspiring Podiatric Physician,

Thank you for considering Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM) as you take the next step toward a career in medicine.

As a KSUCPM alumnus, this College is more than an institution to me—it is where I began my own journey in podiatric medicine. Now, as Interim Dean, I have the opportunity to help shape the experience of the students who will carry that tradition forward.

For more than 110 years, KSUCPM has prepared podiatric physicians to lead, innovate and provide exceptional care. Today, we combine that history with a forward-thinking approach to medical education, giving students the clinical experience, mentorship and opportunities they need to thrive.

Our location in Independence puts you at the center of Cleveland’s renowned medical community, with clinical and educational opportunities through Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and the VA. From hands-on patient care to research, leadership, community service and our fourth-year experience in Arezzo, Italy, your education here extends well beyond the classroom.

What I value most about KSUCPM is our belief that medicine is ultimately about people. As podiatric physicians, we have a unique opportunity to improve how patients move, heal and live. That is the heart of movement medicine—and it is what continues to inspire me about this profession.

I encourage you to explore KSUCPM, get to know our community and imagine what your future could look like here.

I know firsthand what this College can mean to a student. I hope you’ll discover that for yourself.

Mark Hardy, DPM
