A Message from the Dean
A Message from the Dean: Dr. Allan Boike
Aspiring Podiatric Physician,
Thank you for your interest in Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM). I commend you for taking this crucial step in your professional journey and I know that KSUCPM can provide you with the knowledge and tools to succeed as a DPM.
At KSUCPM, we are guided by our mission, to educate students who will represent a diverse and inclusive group of leaders in the field of podiatric medicine and surgery, be life-long learners, excel in residency, and provide compassionate care to a diverse population of patients.
That mission governs everything we do, from admissions criteria to curriculum design and delivery. Diversity in our professional staff, faculty, and students plays a significant role in expanding our impact in healthcare, an impact we are incredibly proud of.
KSUCPM is recognized worldwide as the largest and one of the oldest colleges of podiatric medicine. We have a long history of graduating DPMs who practice around the country, as residency directors, researchers, faculty members, and mentors. Our campus’ location fosters a convenient educational integration with several prestigious teaching hospitals, notably the Cleveland Clinic, the University Hospital system, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
While we are a college of Kent State University, KSUCPM’s campus is in a suburb of Cleveland, specifically in Independence, Ohio. In addition to being a medical mecca, Cleveland features an enormous array of cultural, historical, and social attractions, which makes it easy to call CLE home.
Beyond the campus, we are committed to serving our local and global communities. Many of our students are volunteering to further advance the impact of podiatric medicine, as they partner with our admissions team and faculty clinicians to mentor aspiring physicians at various educational levels.
We promote wholeness, wellness, and a sense of connection with the world and to each other so that our students can lead better lives as medical professionals. Given the opportunity to grow, our students discover their sense of purpose and embrace being life-long learners.
I encourage you to browse the site and learn about the many resources and opportunities available here at KSUCPM. I wish you the best in your professional endeavors and look forward to interacting with you soon.
Best wishes,
Dr. Allan Boike, DPM, FACFAS
Dean of College of Podiatric Medicine
