First-year Student

A First-year Student is one who has earned a high school diploma or GED certificate and has not attended another college, university, or technical school.

A student who has participated in College Credit Plus during high school is considered a First-year Student even though they have earned college credit. The student will need to submit a transcript from the institution(s) from which they earned college credit.

Your school counselor may upload your transcript directly to your application. Be sure to list your school counselor as a school official in the Academic History section of your application. Parchment and/or eScrip-Safe transcripts can be emailed to GeaugaAdmissions@kent.edu.

Official Transcripts

Transcripts are considered official only if they arrive in a sealed letterhead envelope from a high school, college, or university or are sent directly to Kent State electronically, such as through Parchment or another third-party service. Transcripts issued directly to the student will be accepted only if the envelope is unopened. Once the envelope seal has been broken by someone other than a university employee, the transcript becomes unofficial. Transcripts issued electronically to the student are considered unofficial.

**Failure to report previously attended colleges or universities is considered falsification and may result in denial of admission or dismissal from the University.

Although not a requirement, we encourage students to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) online. This is used to consider your eligibility for all federal financial aid programs (grants and loans). Please refer to our Financial Aid section for more information.
