Kent State University Geauga Campus and the Twinsburg Academic Center is excited to announce Ron Dixon as a recipient of the 2020 President's Award of Distinction! Ron serves as the Public Safety Manager for the two-site location and has been instrumental in implementing and ensuring continual campus safety during the pandemic.
The President's Award of Distinction was created as a recognition program to reward staff members who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, service, leadership, and dedication to Kent State in advancing the university's strategic priorities and core values. Full-time classified and unclassified employees at all campuses who have been employed for a minimum of three years are eligible to be nominated.

When the COVID pandemic hit the Kent State community, Dixon was actively engaged in infection control and safety at the Geauga Campus while maintaining a positive learning environment for all students and faculty. Dixon is very passionate about teaching safety classes such as A.L.I.C.E. training for all faculty, staff, and students. He keeps up with continuing education practices to maintain current standards for all classes he teaches. On a daily basis, Dixon warmly greets students in the hallway, checks their well-being, inquires if resources are needed, and directs them to where they need to go. He offers them help with a smile and a genuine voice, which is why students know they can approach Ron with any question. Additionally, Dixon pays close attention to detail and helps students recover items they may have lost or left on previous visits.
Dixon's core values, integrity, personal ethics, work ethics, and respect for others have earned him the respect of faculty, staff, and students. His collaboration with staff and faculty is outstanding. Dixon strives to create positive changes, is open to new ideas, and respects others' points of view. He is very sensitive to the diversity of all cultures and the values of others. Dixon puts students first and is the epitome of "Flashes Taking Care of Flashes" by always demonstrating kindness and respect in all he does.
