Commemorating Bob West

Bob West passed away on the morning of June 20, 2015. He recently celebrated his 89th birthday, where he was surrounded by friends and family.

Bob was a dedicated professor who spent his life studying film and teaching students about its many genres. He always had time to chat and offer advice and suggestions on what to watch (and when you shouldn’t waste your time!). A finalist for the Kent State Distinguished Teaching Award, Bob’s legacy to JMC will live on, along with his history as a legend in Cleveland/Akron area broadcasting.

JMC will host a celebration of Professor Bob West’s life at 11 a.m. on July 18 in 213 Franklin Hall. Professor Ben Whaley and Senior Lecturer Traci E. Williams will be eulogizing Bob, and others are welcome to share their memories as well. Refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to send notes about his impact and influence to Traci West (twest19@kent.edu). Cards can be sent to the family c/o Traci West, 3837 Martha Rd., Kent, OH 44240.
