Climbing Wall

Our 35-foot-tall climbing wall is a Nicros A.R.T. Wall that is designed to look and feel like real rock to simulate outdoor rock climbing. There are 11 top rope climbing stations, one auto belay and a bouldering cave. Padded flooring with ground anchors and crash pads help add safety to the climbing area. Lead bolts, rappel anchors, a hang board and an anchor cleaning station add variety to our climbing program offerings.

Patrons must first gain access to the SRWC (through an existing membership or purchase of a guest pass) to participate in the climbing options.

Spring Semester Everest Challenge

Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world! Do you think you have the climbing skill and endurance to take on the ADVENTURE of scaling all 29,032 feet? You will have the
opportunity to test yourself by attempting to climb the complete distance of Everest over the course of spring semester! Climbers can sign up solo or with a team. Teams and solo-climbers will be divided into skill-based divisions. A wall membership is not required to participate, but is required to be eligible for the competition. Ask our climbing wall
staff how to sign up for a wall membership if necessary. All necessary climbing gear will be available free to rent at the climbing wall desk. Climbers must climb our 35’ high wall 830 times over the course of spring semester to successfully complete the challenge. Prizes will be given to the first team(s) that successfully complete the challenge (or whichever
team is the closest by Apr. 30). Contact Alexis at areed66@kent.edu with any questions. Stop by the climbing wall to register.
