The Art Gallery
The Art Gallery on the Kent State University East Liverpool Campus is located on the second floor of the Mary Patterson Building.
It opened in 2000, shortly after an extensive renovation project that converted the building from a residential housing facility for women into an academic learning center for higher education. Its location is ideal for art shows because of the access to adjoining conference rooms and classrooms.
The Art Gallery resulted from an active group of area citizens who, for more than 30 years, hosted the Ohio River Arts Festival that brought visual, literary and performing arts to Kent State East Liverpool and the surrounding communities.
In 2002, the group reorganized into a joint Kent State East Liverpool/community council and changed its name to the Ohio Valley Regional Arts Council (OVRAC). The Council actively promoted the arts in the community by hosting numerous events that showcased paintings, sculptures, pottery, photography, textiles, literature, music, dance and other forms of art.
Today, the Art Gallery is home to Kent State East Liverpool’s permanent art collection, featuring works by area artists and pieces donated by local residents. The collection is displayed between exhibits of other guest artists
The Art Gallery is open to the public by appointment. To make arrangements to visit the gallery, call 330-382-7425.
