The August 2015 fatal shooting of a motorist by a University of Cincinnati police officer who stopped him for a missing front license plate reignited the Ohio state front license plate debate. Opponents posit reduced fuel economy, aesthetic depreciation and the fact the five surrounding states do not require a front plate; while proponents share a front plate aids law enforcement in identifying automobiles involved in a crime, citizens in helping police track down a vehicle or missing person and allows them to do so from both directions. Do you have an opinion? Join us for a conversation on Ohio’s front license plate law with former Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper and Kent State Columbiana County faculty member, Lynette Rawlings; followed by questions and answers.

About Lynette: Lynette Rawlings, '06 MPA, is an Associate Lecturer at the Kent State University Columbiana County Department of Sociology where she provides freshmen through senior level academic course instruction within the field of criminology and justice studies. She also serves as the undergraduate coordinator for operational, administrative, instructional and financial activities for the criminology and justice studies program at the East Liverpool and Salem campuses. Prior to coming to Kent State in 2007, Lynette served for almost 25 years with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. She held numerous positions including being commissioned an Ohio State Trooper. In 2006, she was the Warren District recipient of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Employee Recognition Award of Excellence.

Regional Campus celebrates 1,600 graduates with Spring Commencement Ceremonies

From the shores of Lake Erie to the banks of the Ohio River, more than 1,600 Regional Campus students graduated with master's, bachelor's and associate degrees, along with certificate programs certifications.
