What are the minimum requirements for admission into the program?

The minimum requirements are Algebra, Biology and Chemistry from high school or college with a grade of “C” or above and a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 from the most recent education record. It is strongly recommended that a perspective student make an advising appointment with the program director to discuss recommended courses.

What general courses are required for the program?

Prescribed developmental courses in reading, writing, and math that a student tests into
General courses include: Destination Kent State- First Year Experience, College Writing I, General Psychology, Modeling Algebra, Fundamentals of Chemistry or Molecules of Life, Medical Terminology, and a Humanities/Fine Art course

When are radiologic technology campus and clinical courses scheduled?

Campus courses are held during daytime hours that begin in the early morning and extend throughout the day. Clinical hours are scheduled mainly during daytime hours but include some afternoon and midnight shifts.  See the information packet for the curriculum sequence and course schedules.

How long is the program?

Once accepted, the program runs summer, fall, and spring the first year and summer, fall, spring the second year with graduation at the end of the spring semester.

Is there a waiting list?

Kent State University at Salem does not have a waiting list.  If students are not accepted the first year, they must reapply each year.  Students benefit from advising from the program director.

How are students selected?

Student selection is based on points received from the most recent cumulative grade point average; grades in algebra, biology, and chemistry; job shadowing; work experience, and completion of an information sessions offered in the fall. The top candidates will be granted an interview and approximately 24 students are selected.

Where are the clinical education sites associated with the program?

Akron City Hospital (Summa), Aultman Alliance, Barberton Hospital (Summa), East Liverpool City Hospital, UH Portage Medical Center (Ravenna), Salem Regional Medical Center, Sharon Regional Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, St. Joseph Warren Hospital, and Trumbull Regional Medical Center (Warren).
Students mainly attend one or more clinical site for the duration of the program.  The program attempts to place students close to home however this may not always be possible.
