How to Apply for Financial Aid
Complete the FAFSA
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in applying for financial aid for medical school students. Priority processing for the FAFSA is March of the year you plan to begin your education. To ensure the results of your FAFSA are sent to Kent State University, be sure to list our federal ID code on the FAFSA: 003051.
Start to Budget
The Cost of Attendance (COA) provides an overview of the estimated expenses and maximum about of financial aid a DPM student can seek. You will want to review the COA and begin to think of how you can budget your expenses over the next academic year. A student may want to work backwards in looking at expenses first and then determining the amount of financial aid you need to pay for tuition, fees, and living expenses over the next year.
Research Sources of Additional Aid
Federal loans may only cover part of the funds you need as a medical student at Kent State University. Many students usually consider additional sources of funding, including Direct Unsubsidized Loan and the Direct PLUS Loans. Please contact the Financial Aid Office to secure applications for these additional sources of funding.
Await an Award Letter
Kent State University will begin processing FAFSA information for students early in the year. KSUCPM students can expect to receive award letters beginning in April You will receive a copy of your award letter in the mail, as well as notification through the FlashLine system at Kent State. If you are an incoming student, FlashLine information will be sent to students beginning in January.
