Position Overview

The Mechatronics Technician is a versatile technical support position responsible for hands-on equipment troubleshooting, field execution, and frontline technical support across the AME region. Designed for an early-career professional with a strong electromechanical foundation, this position bridges mechanical repair, electrical diagnostics, customer satisfaction, and regional field support while also providing responsive customer assistance through phone, Teams, and email communication. Reporting to the Director of Business Development and Technology, the Specialist will support all products in the Becker Pumps portfolio.

This role moves beyond routine maintenance and focuses heavily on dynamic problem-solving. The Specialist will travel as needed to pull and install equipment in the field, execute targeted R&D testing as directed by the engineering group, support warranty cases, and lead commissioning for industrial vacuum systems. On an annual or special-project basis, the Specialist will also provide hands-on support for new product development initiatives in the AME region, contributing electrical and mechanical input, supporting design and sourcing discussions, and physically building solutions with the engineering group. This role is ideal for an eager, coachable professional who wants to learn the industry from the ground up and build a long-term career within the engineering team.

Core Responsibilities

Internal and External Technical Support and Warranty

  • Serve as a reliable technical resource for internal sales teams and external customers across the AME region, providing general troubleshooting and diagnostic support across the entire Becker Pumps product portfolio.
  • Support field and shop warranty cases by accurately diagnosing faults, verifying operational limits, and validating claims.
  • Resolve frontline technical inquiries efficiently, prioritizing direct email communication, clear written documentation, and timely visit reports that summarize findings, actions taken, recommendations, and follow-up needs.

Electromechanical Troubleshooting and Field Execution

  • Travel to customer sites as needed to safely pull, install, and retrofit equipment in the field to support customer operations and internal engineering projects.
  • Conduct on-site and shop inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to resolve complex technical issues on rotating equipment.
  • Perform foundational electrical testing on AC and DC circuits, utilizing multimeters and basic diagnostic tools to identify faults, shorts, or voltage irregularities.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and related technical documentation to support diagnostics, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Execute the safe dismantling, inspection, mechanical repair, and reassembly of industrial pumps.

Commissioning and R&D Support

  • Provide comprehensive, hands-on commissioning for our industrial vacuum systems at customer sites, ensuring flawless start-up and operational alignment.
  • Execute highly specific R&D support testing and beta validations within the shop environment, acting under the strict direction and parameters set by the senior engineering group.
  • Support special new product development projects for the AME region on an annual or as-needed basis by providing hands-on electrical and mechanical input, assisting with product design and sourcing considerations, and working with the engineering group to physically build and validate customer-focused solutions.
  • Utilize a wide variety of hand and power tools to perform mechanical adjustments and alignments during the testing and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

Professional Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, technical diploma, or certificate from a community college or trade school in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field (early-career candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Solid foundational understanding of AC and DC circuits, wiring diagrams, and safe electrical troubleshooting practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong baseline mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience using diagnostic tools, turning wrenches, and pulling/installing industrial rotating equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and support all products within the complete Becker Pumps portfolio.
