With the growing need of personal protective equipment (PPE) facing our community since COVID-19 struck the nation, Kent State University at Tuscarawas administration and faculty collected the campus’ PPE equipment, and donated gloves, gowns and masks to area health care agencies.
According to Joan Lappin, director of the Associate Degree in Nursing program at Kent State Tuscarawas, the nursing department was able to donate the following PPE supplies:
- 2,400 pairs of sterile gloves
- 30 isolation glowns
- 540 N95 masks
“The Kent State Tuscarawas faculty and administration were happy to be able to donate our supplies to help the nurses and staff that are providing care to residents and patients in our community during this COVID-19 pandemic situation,” said Lappin. “We had a limited supply of items but donated what we had.”
The supplies were donated March 16 and March 18 to Riverside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County after Lappin received word of the agencies’ need of additional PPEs.
