LEADERSHIP TUSCARAWAS ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY ACTION PROJECTS FOR THE 2021-2022 CLASS

Leadership Tuscarawas is pleased to announce the formation of four Community Action Project teams. While each project addresses a specific community need, the overall goal of Community Action Projects is to enhance the quality of life for people who live and work in Tuscarawas County.

Projects include:

Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition, project leader is Jodi Salvo, Director of Substance Youth Prevention Services. This outreach project, with a specific focus on tobacco use, encourages youth to live healthy, drug free lives. Due to the prevalence of substance abuse in Tuscarawas County, this is the third straight year that the Anti-Drug Coalition has sponsored a project.

Healthy Tuscarawas, project leader is Diane Lautenschleger, Director of Partnership Development for the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau. This project focuses on a little-known issue of providing access to hygiene products for middle and high-school-aged young women. The goal of the project is to create more opportunities for young women to access community and school-based support systems.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio, project leader is Olivia Scally, Operations Coordinator. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves children through school and community-based empowering and mentoring programs. The goal of the project is to develop a focused volunteer recruitment and marketing campaign.

Beneath the Shade, project leader Kathy Neal, Founder, Director, and House Manager.  This project focuses on women’s transitional space for those who are choosing recovery and who want to rebuild their lives in a faith-based way. A barn is currently under renovation to be used as a resource in recovery. The goal of the project is to develop an operations plan for the program.
