Housing Lottery Process
Students new to housing who complete their housing contract between February 1, 2025, and May 1, 2025, will be entered into the housing lottery process. This process allows students to select their own room.
As part of the lottery, students will receive a random, computer-generated timeslot for Room Selection. Each timeslot will specify the date and time when the student can begin selecting their room. Room Selection timeslots will be sent to students' Kent State email accounts on May 9, 2025.
Living Learning Community (LLC) Students: Room Self-Selection
Students participating in a Living Learning Community (LLC) will select their room on May 12 and 13, 2025. LLC participants will only choose from designated halls or floors associated with their community. Students may continue logging in to make changes to their room selection, if desired, through June 15, 2025.
All Other Students: Room Self-Selection
Remaining students will receive a timeslot for Room Self-Selection between May 16 and May 23, 2025.
- Timeslots will begin on May 16 and will be staggered every 20 minutes through May 23.
- Beginning with their assigned timeslot, students can log in at any time thereafter to select a room.
- Students may continue logging in and making changes to their room selection, if desired, through June 15, 2025.
Students in Special Interest Groups
Certain students participating in specialized programs (e.g., those working with an academic advisor, coach, or counselor) will have room assignments coordinated between their program and University Housing. These assignments will be made on a rolling basis through fall opening. Students with questions about their room assignment can contact their specific program for assistance.
After All Room Selection Timeslots
- Until June 15, 2025: All students may continue to log in and view available rooms.
- Students who complete their housing contract after May 1 will be able to select a room starting May 28, 2025
- Starting June 16, 2025:
- Students who do not participate in Room Self-Selection will be assigned to a room by University Housing.
- The Week of July 28, 2025: Students can participate in the Room Swap Period, during which they may exchange room assignments one-for-one with other students.
