If you’re the kind of person who is interested in computer and network systems and would like to discover how things work – or to dream up ways you might make them work even better – this could be the career path for you. It’s a hands-on program that looks at connecting computer hardware, software and people more effectively by exploring new ways to solve problems.

ABOUT THIS MAJOR

You’ll learn about computer networks, hardware-software connections and how humans interact with computers. Because systems are connected, you’ll also learn about cybersecurity and all the ways to protect the security of an entire computer network.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO

People employed in the computer engineering technology field work with the “human side” of technology. They focus on making sure hardware and software are operating properly and explore ways to improve systems, technology, and the ways people interact with it. They are hands-on problem-solvers who are essential to keeping a company’s computer systems running smoothly.
