ABOUT THIS MAJOR

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science prepare students to understand, design and develop complex computing systems. Students learn to understand how the underlying operating and networking systems interact with local and remote information sources to solve complex problems. The computer science program offers a foundation that enables graduates to adapt to new technologies and new ideas as they evolve. The B.A. option offers a foundation in computer science, with the ability to choose electives that can complement a student’s desired career path. The B.S. program dives deeper into the science to prepare students for successful careers as software developers, programmers and more.  

WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO

Graduates can pursue thriving careers in the design, development, management and protection of a wide variety systems, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, cyberinfrastructure, web services and wireless and mobile systems. They also can develop applications such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, and enterprise services for companies of all sizes and scales.
