Financial Aid Checklist
Kent State University Tuscarawas provides information to help facilitate the financial aid process, in order to make it as simple as possible. Our Financial Aid Checklists provide steps to guide you through your journey to Kent State.
SELECT YOUR FINANCIAL AID CHECKLIST
Choose one of the following three checklists, based on when you plan on enrolling:

Starting Fall
OCTOBER – MARCH
- APPLY FOR ADMISSION
- Easily apply online - there is no application fee!
- Submit official transcript(s). Transcripts must come directly from the school.
- Submit test scores (optional, but recommended).
- FIRST-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS
- First-year students who are accepted by February 1 will automatically be considered for need- and merit-based scholarships. Check website for additional scholarship opportunities.
- CREATE AN ACCOUNT/FSA ID
- Students filing the FAFSA for the first time need to create an account, an FSA ID.
- One or more parents may need an FSA ID as well, depending on dependency and tax filing status.
- For verification purposes, create your FSA ID at least 3 business days prior to submitting FAFSA
- FILE THE FAFSA
- For Fall, file the FAFSA titled with the year beginning in the Fall semester (etc.Fall 2026 is the 2026-2027 FAFSA).
- Complete the FAFSA early each year to be considered for all federal financial aid funding.

- PROVIDE AUTHORIZATION OF TITLE IV AID
- Sign in to FlashLine > Student > Finances > Scholarships & Financial Aid > Title IV Federal Aid Authorization > Check both boxes
- PROVIDE FERPA AUTHORIZATION
- This release allows named individual(s) to gain access to view your financial and/or all academic and advising records.
- Sign in to FlashLine > Student > Resources > Requests and Authorizations > Grant Online FERPA Authorization
- CREATE AN ACCOUNT IN SCHOLARSHIP UNIVERSE
- Creating an account will match you to eligible scholarships that you can apply to receive at Kent State.
- Sign in to FlashLine > Student > Finances > Scholarships & Financial Aid > ScholarshipUniverse
APRIL – MAY
- SELECT DECISION FOR FINANCIAL AID AWARDS
- Sign in to FlashLine > Student > Finances > Scholarships & Financial Aid > Financial Aid Dashboard. Click the Offer tab and scroll down to view and accept aid.
- Be sure to check the Notifications tab as well for any unsatisfied requirements or active messages.
- Sign in to FlashLine > Student > Finances > Scholarships & Financial Aid > Financial Aid Dashboard. Click the Offer tab and scroll down to view and accept aid.
- IF BORROWING A FEDERAL DIRECT STUDENT LOAN, COMPLETE THESE TWO STEPS:
JUNE – AUGUST
- SUBMIT FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT
- Submit to the Office of Admissions as soon as the final transcript is available.
- Transfer Students: You must submit your final high school transcript if you are transferring in less than 12 credit hours.
- PAY TUITION BY DUE DATE
- Payment details and tuition due dates will be emailed.
- Sign in to FlashLine > Student > Finances > Tuition and Payments
- SELECT REFUND PREFERENCE
- Make refund delivery selection to use BankMobile or apply direct deposit to an existing bank account.
- This cannot be set up until 24 hours after course registration occurs.
- APPLY FOR ADMISSION

- CREATE AN ACCOUNT/FSA ID
- Students filing the FAFSA for the first time need to create an account, an FSA ID.
- One or more parents may need an FSA ID as well, depending on dependency and tax filing status.

- For Spring, file the FAFSA titled with the year ending in the Spring semester (etc. Spring 2026 is the 2025-2026 FAFSA).
- Complete the FAFSA early each year to be considered for all federal financial aid funding.
