Kent State University Libraries will once again provide the Stress-Free Zone on Monday, Dec. 12, and Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 3-5 p.m. in the University Library. The library hosts this event at the end of every semester in order to give students, faculty and staff the chance to unwind during finals week.
The Dogs on Campus Pet Therapy Program®, a favorite among students, will return to this event as well.
Cynthia Williams, director of marketing, communications and public relations for University Libraries, said that the Stress-Free Zone remains one of the most popular events for students.
“Finals week is a tense time on campus, and many students come to the library to prepare for their exams,” Williams said. “The Stress-Free Zone is another way that the library serves our students, faculty and staff. The continued popularity of this event tells us that they appreciate a few minutes to ease their minds before going back to their books.”
Students also can participate in 3-D demonstrations to create snowflakes in the Student Multimedia Studio while enjoying popcorn and soda.
“This event is an investment in student success,” Williams said. “Reports prove that taking a break during high-intensity studying helps to stimulate the brain and focus the mind. The Stress-Free Zone aligns with President Beverly Warren’s initiative of ‘Students First.’”
The University Library will be open 24 hours during finals week.
