The April Lunch and Learn presentation, titled “A Sustainable Life,” will take place April 17 from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 310 at the Kent Student Center. Melanie Knowles, sustainability manager at Kent State University, is the presenter.
This month’s Lunch and Learn will discuss small changes in our lives that can improve sustainability and small changes in our thinking that can move us on a path toward sustainability and beyond to flourishing. Knowles will address both practical day-to-day tips for greening your life, as well as the larger concepts emerging in the sustainability movement.
As sustainability manager, Knowles focuses on sustainability implementation and education. She is committed to a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to creating solutions, with a particular interest in creating a sustainable economy and a culture of respect and joy. Her education includes environmental science, anthropology, economics and nonprofit management, and her professional experience includes the Cleveland Green Building Coalition, the City of Cleveland and the private sector.
The Lunch and Learn programs are sponsored by the Division of Human Resources and are held in conjunction with Impact, the university’s employee assistance program. The hour-long programs are free and open to faculty and staff. However, seating is limited and reservations are required. Employees will have the opportunity to purchase pre-packaged healthy lunches to enjoy during the presentation. If you would like to order a lunch, you must do so before Friday, April 12.
