Ashley White-Stumpf's Sacrifice Featured in National Museum of the U.S. Army

The sacrifice of Kent State University alumna 1st Lt. Ashley’s White-Stumpf is now being featured along with other American heroes at the new National Museum of the United States Army in Virginia.

White-Stumpf, who earned her commission with Kent State’s Army ROTC program in 2009, was killed in Afghanistan in 2011. She was a member of an elite Cultural Support Team (CST), made up exclusively of women who gather intelligence, conduct searches of Afghan women and children, build relationships with them and break down cultural barriers. The elite team is attached to Army Rangers and U.S. Army Special Forces that search Afghan villages. White-Stumpf performed duties that male soldiers could not without offending Afghans.

White-Stump’s service was featured Nov. 11 by “NBC Nightly News” in the network’s Veterans Day coverage, which included a glimpse into the new museum.
