Kent State University students will celebrate the start of a new school year at the university’s annual back-to-school celebration that occurs the day before fall classes begin. Blastoff will take place on Sunday, Aug. 27, from 6-9:30 p.m. on the Student Green and Manchester Field on the Kent Campus.
Blastoff serves as the culminating event of Welcome Weekend, a four-day orientation program that helps new students transition into the university environment.
At Blastoff, students have the opportunity to learn about and connect with more than 200 student organizations. Students can enjoy hot air balloon rides, inflatables, a concert and a laser light show. The laser light show will take place on the Student Green from 9-9:30 p.m.
Aramark, Kent State’s new dining vendor, will serve free food samples from Fresco, Grazers and Starbucks; and Fork in the Road, the Kent State Dining Services’ food truck, also will serve food during the event.
