Excellence in Mid-American Conference (MAC) golf has more than found its home at Kent State University and looks to be around for quite a while. This past weekend (May 4-7), the Kent State Golden Flashes’ men’s golf team won its fourth straight and 20th overall MAC Championship by a resounding 40 strokes. Led by individual medalist Corey Conners’ 54-hole score of 209 (-7; 70-67-72) the team shot a three round total of 855. Ranked 18th nationally, the conference championship was the fifth team title for the Golden Flashes this season, tying the team for the fourth most in the country this year.

The men’s victory comes just one week after the women locked up their 14th MAC Championship in the program’s 14 years. The 14 consecutive titles by the Kent State women’s golf team is the longest championship streak by any sport in MAC history. The Golden Flashes won the event this year by 16 strokes over Ball State with a three round total of 908.

Next up for both teams is the NCAA Regional. The women will head to Penn State on May 10-12 while the men will play at the University of Michigan on May 17-19.
