Kent State University held its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, included a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from Kent State President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the Kent State Veterans Club, was the guest speaker.
All were invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation was extended to Kent State faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.
A reception in the Kent Student Center Kiva lobby followed the brief program.
The university will be closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
