Internship: Publicis Media Product Marketing Team
Through her remote internship with Publicis Media, advertising major Laina Rayman, ’23, has practiced conducting research and crafting thoughtful messaging to best assist the Product Marketing Team. Laina says her advertising coursework prepared her to create unique messages that are based on research.
Courses such as Advertising Messaging and Communication, Advertising Strategy and Development and Media Planning, taught Laina a skillset that she is applying to her everyday work as an intern.
“Understanding how to conduct research and craft thoughtful messaging has been the most helpful in understanding the work of product marketers, because you have to understand the product to know how and to whom you should market it.”
As an intern, Laina’s day-to-day tasks vary based on the needs of the Product Marketing Team. She provides support to the team by posting release notes, designing layouts for marketing materials and creating onboarding content. Laina’s interest and minor in User Experience Design has given her the opportunity to also interact with the User Experience Design Team by sitting in on design workshops and user research reports.
Advice for future interns:
“Soak up as much knowledge as possible and talk one-on-one with the people around you. If you hear someone is working on a project or has a job you are interested in, reach out and ask questions!”
