Additional Information

  1. ALL Cadets must complete the following items for acceptance into the Police Academy:
    Apply Online at https://www.kent.edu/policeacademy
  2. Attend an Interview with the Academy Director
  3. Complete the Student Health Data form (SF114bas) with an approved Medical Provider. The form must be completed prior to participation in the Physical Training Assessment and within 180 days of the Academy start date. The original form must be returned to the Academy. 
  4. Complete a background check form (SF102bas) with a Sheriff’s Office in Ohio that conducts a direct copy BCI/FBI check within 150 days of Academy start date. Original form must be returned to the Academy.
  5. Conduct a Physical Fitness Assessment (SF195bas) with the Academy Commander/Physical Training Instructor within 150 days of the Academy start date. 
    1. STAR Cadets must meet the 20th percentile for Cooper Standards.
    2. Accelerated Cadets must enter at the 40th percentile for Cooper Standards.
  6. Conduct a 12-panel drug screening with OnDemand within 150 days of the Academy start date. This can be conducted at the time of PT Test with OnDemand personnel on site. The cost is $40 (cash).
  7. Academic (STAR) students will also register with the University. There is no additional cost for this process.
