Kent State, Youngstown State and Akron compete in 2nd Annual Northeast Ohio Presidents' Cup
On Monday, June 27, Kent State University participated in the 2nd Annual Northeast Ohio Presidents’ Cup. The event promoted collaborative spirit among Kent State, Youngstown State and Akron while serving as a scholarship fundraiser for all three institutions. This year’s event was hosted by Youngstown State and took place at the Avalon Golf and Country Club in Warren. Participants competed in a Ryder Cup-style golf tournament, followed by a reception and dinner. Youngstown State won the tournament with Akron finishing second and Kent State third.
Kent State President, Beverly Warren, Youngstown State President, Jim Tressel, and Akron Athletic Director, Larry Williams addressed dinner attendees, each emphasizing the value the universities bring to Northeast Ohio and their continued mission to provide affordable education. Monies raised are divided between the schools and used for scholarship assistance. Because the event took place in Trumbull County, funds raised by Kent State University remain within the Mahoning Valley and support scholarships at the Trumbull Campus.
