Students will participate in the White Coat Ceremony

For the first time in its history, Kent State University at Trumbull's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students will attend a White Coat Ceremony. Thirty students, who are beginning the BSN program, will take an oath and complete the ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in room 117 in the Technology Building.

According to Gina Severino, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, professor & Trumbull Campus BSN coordinator, the ceremony helps elevate the value of humanism as the core of healthcare.

"This is a great time to implement the ceremony into the BSN curriculum," Severino said. "After the pandemic over the last few years, we feel it is appropriate to add this iconic ritual that emphasizes compassionate, collaborative, scientifically excellent care from the first day of training in the healthcare professions."
