Kent State University at Ashtabula held its 73rd commencement ceremony on Friday evening, Dec. 17, at SPIRE's indoor track and field building in nearby Geneva, Ohio. It marked the second consecutive commencement ceremony the campus has held at SPIRE.
Over 100 students who earned their degrees were celebrated. Graduate Holly Lane-Ruot, who earned a bachelor's degree in technical and applied studies, was the student speaker.
“Commencement is always a special evening to celebrate such an important milestone in our students’ lives and I’m so pleased we could celebrate in person with our graduates and their families,” said Susan J. Stocker, Ph.D., dean and chief administrative officer at Kent State Ashtabula. “Completing a degree is a major accomplishment, but to have completed a degree during a pandemic – and all the challenges that presented – is nothing short of incredible.”
