In large part to the generosity of students, staff, alumni and friends of the campus, Kent State University at Ashtabula once again surpassed its feature fund #KSUgives Giving Tuesday fundraising goal of $10,000, raising nearly $14,000 for the recently established Susan J. Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund.
“I am extremely grateful for the tremendous support of the Ashtabula Campus’s Giving Tuesday initiative and the Susan J. Stocker Campus Development Fund,” said Interim Dean and Chief Administrative Officer R. William Ayres IV, Ph.D. “You, our faculty, staff, alumni and community once again demonstrated your belief in the difference we can make together, your donations cementing your love of our university and your belief in our mission.”
The enthusiastic month-long effort by the on-campus community of students, faculty and staff, the campaign raised a total of $13,761. The gift total includes over $5,000 of matching funds, challenges and participation boosts from the Ashtabula Area College Committee, Inc., Kent State University Foundation and members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, KSU Foundation Board, Campaign Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.
Additional funds also received considerable support during the Giving Tuesday campaign, including the Ashtabula High School Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund, Rising Scholars and the Ashtabula Faculty Endowed Scholarship fund.
The Susan J. Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund has been established to honor Dr. Stocker’s commitment to the students and the local community that she served for so many years. Stocker retired in 2022 after serving Kent State University for more than 30 years. She was the longest serving dean at Kent State, leading the Ashtabula Campus for 21 years. The fund will support student success initiatives, campus programming, equipment and technology needs, facility renovations and other expenses related to the betterment of the campus and the students it serves.
Overall, Kent State University raised more than $2.8 million for scholarships and programs through the university’s Giving Tuesday campaign.
While the Giving Tuesday campaign has wrapped, there's still time to contribute to the fund in support of the campus. Visit www.kent.edu/ashtabula/giving to make your gift.
