Local Businesses Team Up to Support Students

Huffman-Mayer Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors and Martell Cleaners have partnered together in support of the Kent State University at Ashtabula Hospitality Management Society’s Dress to Impress program. Gently used suits and professional wear delivered to Martell will be professionally dry-cleaned and donated to the program.

Dress to Impress is designed to help new graduates and students start their careers “on the right track” by providing free professional clothing, dressing them for the success for which their education is preparing them.

“Martell Cleaners helps keep the local business community looking good by caring for their dress and professional clothing,” said James E. Mayer, Jr., Senior Vice President-Investments and Brand Manager at Huffman-Mayer Wealth Management Group. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to help Kent State Ashtabula students who might not have the opportunity to look as professional as possible.

Martell is donating the cleaning services for this effort, which is being coordinated through the Ashtabula County business community by Huffman-Mayer.  To date, the effort has already garnered upwards of $5,000 in professional clothing.

“We welcome the opportunity to help these young people in their efforts to strengthen the Ashtabula business community,” said George Martello, owner of Martell Cleaners. “I always learned that if you look and feel good, you’ll perform at the highest level.  We wish these graduates and students all the best in their professional careers in Ashtabula County.”

Dress to Impress launched in 2013 and is open Mondays from 1-2 during the academic year or by appointment.  The store, located in Main Hall, offers a wide selection of professional business attire to job-seeking Kent State Ashtabula students and accepts donations of new and gently used items.
